I was attempting to take a bit of a break due mostly to the rampant upheaval afflicting our planet, from unprecedented weather events (Climate Change), mass shootings with weapons of war readily available here in the USA, unthinkable vicious events started by Hamas that have stoked a major eruption of slaughter in the Middle East and one of our two Political Parties proudly in favor of following the blueprint of Germany in the 30’s. How is it that we now have a Speaker of The House who may appear mild and well spoken, but firmly sits to the right of Attila The Hun in his personal beliefs, insisting The Bible is what guides his every move.
I am so disgusted by our societal descent into de-evolution but have been predicting exactly that ever since Saint Ronnie ignored and starved education while trickling down the economy, kickstarting the obscene wealth gap while busting up labor unions. I’ve often expressed frustration that I truly believed if lucky enough to reach my late 60’s we would be so much further along the evolutionary trail. I lay the blame at my generation and the one that followed. We should know better and I was under the impression that a much larger percentage of us did. Not the case at all in my observation. Every human being on the planet is connected, we all have the same blood. Ask yourself if you or a loved one desperately needed a blood transfusion and there were 15 bags of the correct blood type laid on a table, how would you pick the one that matches your race? They all look exactly the same. We are all sliced from the same loaf, just toasted in different shades on the outside. Wake the fuck up, people!
None of the above is included in the show. In fact, this extra long episode is jam packed with new releases and gets underway with mini tributes to Richard “Shaft” Roundtree and eccentric guitar master Angelo Bruschini, perhaps best known for his work with Massive Attack but who came to my attention years earlier as a member of Bristol, UK group The Blue Aeroplanes. New releases abound and are all listed on the cover art and yes the “new” Beatles song is included. I’ve stopped reading all the negativity surrounding this release and as a lifelong fan prefer to consider this merely the end. There will be no more vault mining, but I will be first in line if that changes to scoop up any and everything. I just can’t help myself. The only new release that has been played prior to this episode is the super infectious new track by The Weeklings, as I simply can’t stop listening to it.
Some people have asked where the support link is but we have not put up a new fundraising link in quite some time. Since I am still unpacking my music collection and listing it for sale on Discogs, that would be a great way to contribute and you will actually get an instant benefit in return. Speaking of which, just last week I uncovered some forgotten gems that haven’t been played in forever, see if you can figure out which ones made the show. Thanks to all for listening, checking in and your continued support. I remain forever in your debt. Here’s a link to my Discogs store, if you have any questions don’t hesitate to get in touch. DL
