Have an absolutely beautiful rest of your life.
There’s only time for a few more episodes before I have to move the Mike’s Basement studio and we spend a portion of #36 celebrating some of the new RRHOF inductees. We also dwell on some of the obvious and somewhat ridiculous omissions. One set was inspired by a terrific new documentary on Jeff Beck and we have new stuff from The Decemberists, Mercury Rev (with Margo Price), live David Byrne, Snail Mail and Bruce on Broadway. I have also located my favorite Christmas song of all time, which is guaranteed to make you reach for a box of tissues and/or a barf bag. Once again there’s some “Yacht Rock” that is never played and a blast of Holiday Cheer from The Cartwright’s. Dig in and turn on.
Can't believe I went more than a month without posting but I've been in dental reconstruction hell, as well as very busy at work. That said, here's a few new and old things that I've been cranking in the Basement Studio recently.
I'm surprised it took me this long to use one of the most over-used terms in radio as a blog title, maybe tomorrow we can get the LED out after some work force blocks and look forward to a killer block party weekend! Hey, I'll be here all week - try the veal.
I am loving this album from The Civil Wars.
Ryan Adams' Record Store Day EP
Can you name a better "Rock" singer than Paul Rodgers? I can't.
Had some great response to the Gary Moore track, so today here's a few live tracks.
One of my favorite guitar players that left us way too soon. The great Paul Kossoff actually died twice! There's no telling where his music would have gone if hadn't died so young.
Many have asked how to keep the From The Basement programs afloat, especially now that I am unemployed. Please donate via PayPal below whatever you feel you can afford to help cover my costs. Thank you.
