This episode of BAD was a pure exercise of letting go and following a stream of consciousness in search of the elusive “radio muse.” Trusting the first instinct and taking a leap of faith, there were a few things I needed to get to, like the new track from The War On Drugs which starts us off, some Hendrix to mark his “death day,” a bit From Gang Of Four live in NYC in ‘82, a new My Morning Jacket track and Jason Isbell’s R.E.M. cover. All of that was happily accomplished and the entire ride took some twists - Walter Cronkite being bookended by Mighty Lemon Drops and Lee Michaels? Works for me. Also new things from Aoife O'Donovan, Iggy Pop & Matt Sweeney, Willa Amai and Bob Perry, a chat with Peter and Mike from REM, Lou Reed live and very talkative, The Dean Ween Group, Lenny Bruce and plenty more. Hope you enjoy the show as much as we enjoy your support at https://paypal.me/pools/c/8beKwFWlHR
The latest episode is centered around the brilliant new album from Slothrust.
Hard to believe 20 years have passed. Longest episode to date, clocking in over 5 hours, but there was quite a bit to get to. The finale pays tribute to a school friend lost on that horrible day, and somehow includes part of a 2015 musical visit with Rickie Lee Jones. New stuff from Modest Mouse, Low, The Front Bottoms, Radiohead, Cat Popper, rare John Coltrane, and ton more. We stroll through musical neighborhoods inhabited by Thelonious Monk, Charles Mingus, Game Theory, Jeff Buckley, and Let's Active, with detours bringing sounds from Led Zeppelin, Todd Rundgren, John Lee Hooker, The Shangra-Las and dozens of others. Thanks as always for your ears, and for your heart through your support here and at https://paypal.me/pools/c/8beKwFWlHR. Be safe.
