Have an absolutely beautiful rest of your life.
Episode 104 was recorded Sunday November 29 with heartfelt thanks for the support and belated Happy Thanksgiving wishes to all. We dig a little further into Neil Young’s Archives 2, new stuff from Lucinda Williams, Matthew Ryan and Dave Alvin, the Alex Winter Zappa Documentary, Billie Joe Armstrong’s covers album and 2 of my favorite records of the year, The Midnight Callers & A Girl Called Eddy. Also Jimi Hendrix “Live in Maui” album, the debut from Mike Campbell’s new project The Dirty Knobs and a historic recording of Jerry Garcia and Merl Saunders. There’s time to remember Tommy Keene, who left us three years ago and visit with The Beach Boys, The Who, Mighty Lemon Drops, James McMurtry, Dramarama, Velvet Crush, Jethro Tull, Jellyfish, Gil Scott-Heron and a host of others. Thanks for taking the ride and please keep those cards and green letters coming to https://paypal.me/pools/c/8beKwFWlHR
Things are getting pretty interesting as we head into Thanksgiving Week and by that I mean we appear to enter a new level or zone of Bizarro World several times a day… every day. Episode #103 attempts to present a musical distraction for us all and proof to listener/supporter William Ross that I do not need to be bribed to play Green On Red, although to be honest it helped. Other pay for pay delights come from Rahsaan Roland Kirk, The Teardrop Explodes, Edwyn Collins, Lee Michaels, The Comsat Angels, My Morning Jacket, Curtis Mayfield, Nouvelle Vague, Disposable Heroes of Hiphoprisy, The Rascals, a taste of Neil Young’s Archive #2, Keith’s Wino’s reissue, Dr. John, Stevie Wonder, U.K. and something new from Marika Hackman. That really just scratches the surface but hopefully you get the idea. Thanks as always for the love and support at https://paypal.me/pools/c/8beKwFWlHR.
I couldn’t pass up the opportunity to do an episode on Friday the 13 in this surreal year of 2020, so here you have From The Basement Episode #102. A few recurring themes mixed with new things from Bootsy Collins, William Shatner and Buddy & Julie Miller, as well as new/old things from David Bowie, The Only Ones, Mike Cooley, Patterson Hood & Jason Isbell, Todd Rundgren, The Chameleons, Pylon and the proverbial so much more! I tried to get this up before the Midnight hour but in my basement, it’s still Friday night. Thanks for everything, be safe, wear a fucking mask and stay alive! https://paypal.me/pools/c/8beKwFWlHR
Was going to wait for the final results but had to force myself away from the insanity and head downstairs to the comfort of my studio. I think we all need a distraction and I prefer them musical, this show was recorded 11/4/20 and finished at 11:30 pm. A few new things from Elvis Costello, Karen O teaming up with Willie Nelson, the return of Michael Penn, an incredible new track from Daniel Lanois, Smokescreens flash us back to early Cure and R.E.M. and there’s a long overdue remaster of a true Power Pop cornerstone album from Van Duren. We try to make some sense or at least take a breather from a reality show experiment that has simply gone too far. Hopefully Sly, Jimi Hendrix, Bob Marley, Santana, John Martyn, Gang Of Four, Stevie Wonder, Kings Missile and Crimson, Neil Young, Brian Auger, Patti Smith, Patty Griffin and so much more will bring a smile. Thanks as always for listening, getting in touch and supporting this show at https://paypal.me/pools/c/8beKwFWlHR.
