Right at the start of one of my favorite movies, Kyle MacLachlan intones "It's a strange world, isn't it." It's not a question, more a statement of wonder. Next week is a class reunion for my High School Class of 1974 and I won't be attending. To be honest I have never made it to one in the past but this year I was considering it as we find ourselves home in N.J. after 26 years away. There are simply too many former classmates that have been absorbed by the cult of stupid and with a daughter in great peril due to her immune disorder, I am not willing to risk it. We are not willing to risk our daughter's health for anything. It hit us hard this week that there's still a lot of time to go before our society and culture get back to normal, and just what is normal in 2021? I say, "Fuck it. I'm locking myself in the studio and playing music to help my battered psyche get through the drama and discord of what is a very strange world indeed." New stuff from Billy Strings, The Connells, Manic Street Preachers, Roger Chapman, Paul Carrack, Fantastic Negrito, Gonzalo Rubalcaba with Ron Carter and Jack DeJohnette, Jose Gonzalez, Southern Energy Ensemble, The Lumineers, Heartless Bastards, Dion, Mathew E White, Wesley Stace, Kasim Sulton, The Crushing Violets, Damon Albarn and The long awaited Velvet Underground tribute and Dylan's latest Bootleg Box. That's just the new stuff! Scattered throughout these 5 hours you will find a wealth of rarities, obscure and obvious, favorites and new to you sounds carefully hand placed throughout the ride.
