Over the past month and a half I have been digging through my entire physical music library; cataloging, sorting and most daunting of all, boxing up not only the last 17 years of living in Maryland, but pretty much my entire adult life of employment, musical obsessions and projects.
Cleaning out the old home studio desk a treasure trove of memories were sparked through letters, documents, playlists and especially photos. Trust me, my long suffering wife has been absolutely correct in her often repeated mantra “You have way too much shit in this house!”
Then it happened. With the giant desk just about empty I freed a card of some kind from a crevice and it stopped me in my tracks. The mass card from the wake of J.T. -- James Theodore Theodoracopulos. J.T. was a beautiful guy in every way and a much too young casualty of Aids in the early 90s. J.T. was the guy who really played the first song in the history of FM 106.3 and we all loved him very much.
It inspired me to put this show together… and I have a feeling there will be a part 2 as soon as the new studio is ready.

I've been so sad since we lost the Loft in the debacle. I didn't see that coming. Feels like I lost a friend and every morning is not nearly as happy as it was (had been listening for about 10 years). I was so happy, though, to discover the new Basement shows in Mike's Basement. Mike, when I heard your voice for the first time in a while as I clicked on that first show, I almost started to cry. Thank you!

Aw Mike, I've been out on medical leave since December, so I only just found out we've lost The Loft from satellite permanently. What a tragedy! David the chaplain at Georgetown Hospital agrees. I echo Mark's sentiments above and will aim to check out the Mike's Basement shows.

Mike, so happy to hear you again. I’ve been a Loft listener of yours for well over 10 years and really have had withdrawal issues after it was so rudely cut from the programming on Loft. I’m just riding out this years subscription before I bid them farewell. I have been enjoying your new program and will listen as long as you do it. Congratulations on your resurrection . I’d give anything if I could download your program so that I could listen to it on my road trips

Mike, I'm glad that so many others miss the Loft as much as I do. The Loft was by far the best music on the radio and I listened daily for many years. I have cancelled my subscription because there is nothing worth paying to listen to now. Best of luck to you, Frannie and Meg. You really did a remarkable job!

As a long time satellite radio subscriber,(2 lifetime subscriptions) when there were two providers. When it truly was “Disorder”. I settled in at the Loft knowing that throughout the day I would truly get an eclectic mix of music. Terrestrial radio has now firmly moved over to the satellite!! To the knucklehead executive that said the Loft was a "BOUTIQUE" channel, doesn’t he/she know that every channel on satellite radio is a boutique channel. That was the whole point of satellite radio. Anyway, enough of a rant , glad I found you. Keep spinning the “DISKS” brother.

Awesome Mike! Thanks.
