As our descent into full-blown Bizarro World continues, Episode 57 of From The Basement will try to serve as a musical distraction to the destruction of our democracy. With a brilliant new EP from Matthew Ryan, Filthy Friends’ second full long player, Joel Ross (a wonderful new Vibraphonist on the Jazz scene) and the mysterious Waylon Jennings meets Morrissey hybrid that answers to the name Orville Peck we hope to plant your ears on solid ground. Dispatch From Colorado marks the first anniversary of the tragic passing of Scott Hutchison, and we roam through the stacks for contributions from Los Lobos, David Lindley, Richard Thompson, Frank Zappa, 10cc, Garland Jeffreys, Lou Reed, Peter Gabriel, Low, Robert Plant, The Clash, The Incredible Casuals, Robyn Hitchcock and a whole bunch more. Please keep up your fantastic donations and as always thanks for listening. https://paypal.me/pools/c/8beKwFWlHR

It did happen here: a majority of Electoral College state voters voted for the sitting President. And behind that are approximately 49% of Americans who also voted that way. The distraction is blaming democracy (or the destruction thereof) because someone or some minority group lost an election. The music still does the talking with this show, and it would be even better without the “G D’s” and political jabs, but that's what good dJ's do, isn't it?
