From The Basement #21
Episode #21 is sorta special as I recorded it while undergoing chemo treatment #3 of 6 at Howard County General Hospital, 4th Floor South Oncology Wing during my 5 day stay. Very special people work on this floor and they have made this ordeal as pleasant as possible. New tunes from Elvis Costello (also battling the Big C) and a 21 year in the making solo outing from one of my faves, Peter Holsapple called "Game Day" that truly resonates. Lots of "comfort food" and some stuff directly inspired by what my body is going through. Halfway home and feeling strong. Thanks to all for listening and the love.

Looks like you are fighting hard. Doing something you love to do is always good medicine(along with the chemo). Love the music, as always, and looking forward to many more great listening sessions.

Great show, really appreciate the effort, hoping it provides you with the strength to carry on that it does for your listeners. Bill Evans into The Beach Boys masterful!

Looking through your list of artists was interesting. Didn't know Franny and Handsome Dick Manitoba were artists. Also you omitted Love and Arthur Lee and I know you've played them before. Love your performances. Keep it up. Fred

Hey Mike--Just came back to this page after awhile away. For reasons I won't get into here, it was extra poignant to read about your cancer treatment today. So glad you're able to keep recording, and I can't wait to listen to this show and the others I've missed. Keep fighting the good fight, and f*ck cancer!

Sitting out in the backyard tonight - my 12 year old daughter is just back from camp and my 14 year old son came out of the basement (miracle). We’ve got a fire rolling - grilled some burgers, made s’mores and listened to you. You have been a family tradition since my hubby started tuning in to your show in 2005. I’m grateful to have had you introduce my kiddos to such music over the years. Thank you... Rock On!

Can’t believe you couldn’t find room for Lidia loveless. Especially the way you raved about “Real” when you were on the loft. Thanks, greg

Hey Mike, Just want to thank you for all the great music and say HANG IN THERE! I fought that shit for 26 years. It was supposed to kill me, but I kicked cancer's ass! Been clean for 12 years. It was a tough journey but it was worth it.

Mike, I hope you're doing OK. I just wanted to thank you again for doing what you do. Back in late February/March, my 13yo son got very sick and ended up having a heart transplant. Sitting in the hospital room that month, your music help me cope immensely with the crazy ride we took.
