From The Basement #166
Taylor Hawkins was completely top of mind around the studio and we have put together a little tribute. Art Damage returns with a wonderful musical treat he named “April Damage.” Essentially a handcrafted guide to the month through a musical prism that exists in the mind of Mr. Damage. It is fab and will be our first bonus feature for our Mixcloud subscribers, as only they will be able to access and download it as a stand alone show. If you have ideas of other bonus things you would enjoy, don’t hesitate to let us know. The range of sounds this episode include Super Furry Animals, Billy Paul, Steve Winwood, Traffic, Cream, Public Enemy, The Jimi Hendrix Experience, Albert King, James Brown, Rufus Thomas, Concrete Blonde, Tommy Bolin, Jim James, Robin Trower, Pat Dinizio, The Rolling Stones, Stephen Fretwell, Tim Buckley, The Comsat Angels, Split Enz, Slothrust, A Girl Called Eddy, Tommy Keene, Mott The Hoople, Velvet Underground, Def Leppard, Tommy James & the Shondells, T. Rex, Kraftwerk, Isaac Hayes, Johnnie Taylor, John Renbourn AND MANY MORE. Thanks as always for listening and your support.
If you want a working drummer's take on Taylor, my old workmate a fabulous drummer named Patrick Berkery, who you have heard playing with Clap Your Hands and Say Yeah, The Pernice Brothers and The War On Drugs to name but a few wrote a wonderful piece on his blog you should read. Click Here
