Whew… October 9 is generally a very busy day in my world, not only is it the birthday of John and Sean Ono Lennon, Jackson Browne and my Grandfather and namesake, who I unfortunately never met, it is also my wife’s birthday. I am a lucky guy and I don’t mean financially or to boast, but I think now more than ever we need to celebrate the gifts we have received to offset the welling panic of the last two years. We got married in 1980. We lost a cornerstone of our culture that year. Since my new bride shared this Birthday, even if I wasn’t a massive fan there would never be any danger of me forgetting it. I had already sewn up the other date by getting married on my Mother’s Birthday. So no matter what happened in our new life together, I had two of the largest potential marital infractions covered. BTW can you believe Sean is 46?!? On #143 we wish all of the above a “Happy” and dig into new stuff from Tears For Fears, Theo Croker, Lizard Music, The War On Drugs, Billy Strings, Nathaniel Rateliff, Jason Isbell, John Paul White, The Temptations (with Smokey Robinson), Shelby Lynne, Jesse Malin, Lala Lala (with Ben Gibbard) and Strand Of Oaks. As a bonus, Art Damage has a new “Damage Report” on collecting music but not touching it and the scarcity of humanity as the algorithm is in charge. Thanks for listening, as always and your support.
