Back from The RockY Mountain High
What a wonderful trip! So happy that I had the time and opportunity to move my daughter out to beautiful Colorado. It was kind of a hellish ride complete with some tough weather... and the loss of our roof rack as soon as we crossed into Indiana! Unquestionably an adventure I think we'll both cherish forever. When we needed to up the adrenaline and avoid white line fever the catalogs of Led Zeppelin and The Hold Steady, "Quadrophenia" from The Who, M. Rivers brilliant new record and Julian Cope's "Peggy Suicide" were all blasted at maximum volume. But perhaps the most musically poignant moment occurred crossing into Colorado when on shuffle "A Long December" from Counting Crows came on. The lyrics summed up how we both felt (for different reasons) starting this new year and new chapter in our lives. We took it as a sign that we were truly on the path we need to be.
More on the trip soon but for now here's a few new things I discovered on my return.

Love Quadrophenia for tough driving! That album helped me driving through a blizzard from PA to Toronto for a work emergency after high winds cancelled my flight.

Something so precious about having your child ( even when they are older ) and you traveling down highway ..... the journey and not the destination.

Sorry I didn't get to say goodbye to you on The Loft. You along with your fellow DJs brought such great music into my life that I would not have found on my own. I can't thank you enough for that. Be well Mike and all the best to you
