Have an absolutely beautiful rest of your life.
As an old man fan from the beginning, I can't say I wasn't a little disappointed in the way this new record was released. While not a fan of exclusives of any kind, who really gives a shit what I think. I prefer to concentrate on the musical aspect and leave the marketing to the other end of the building. That said, to these ears there are a some really solid songs here.
Robert Plant has a virtual license to print money by agreeing to tour under the Zeppelin legend, but instead strives to try and push the culture forward. This is a mature and irresistible new tune that continues to increase my respect for him as an artist still yearning for what comes next. Great stuff.
Can't believe I went more than a month without posting but I've been in dental reconstruction hell, as well as very busy at work. That said, here's a few new and old things that I've been cranking in the Basement Studio recently.
Due to an extremely hectic week I've been unable to find the time to post here. However, I was fortunate enough to spend a fair amount of time up close and personal with the legendary Booker T, and over a crystal clear ISDN connection with Robert Plant. We were putting together the next two episodes of a new show I've been doing called "Playin' Records With Mike." It's a no-bullshit show where an artist and I sit down and simply play records. Remember the days of getting together with your friends and playing records, turning each other on to new stuff, rare stuff, your latest found musical treasures? Well, Mr. Jones and Mr. Plant could not have been any nicer and both men seemed to thoroughly enjoy talking about and playing music they love. I learned a great deal from them both and I'll make sure to let you know when these episodes will air. In the meantime, here's a few choice selections from Booker T and Robert Plant.
