I have certainly slacked off in blogland as I've been so very busy the last week. I have to laugh when I think back to starting this blog and thinking I could actually post something every day. In truth, some days I just have nothing left to offer up by the time I finally get to relax. That said, I couldn't let another day pass without a little tribute to Andrew Gold, who passed at the tender age of 59 of an apparent heart attack, a mere 4 years older than me.
I almost talked Andrew into doing a Loft Session about 6 or 7 years ago but after some tentative plans, it just kind of faded away. He was a fairly amazing musician, fluent on a variety of instruments and I became a fan instantly upon hearing his song "One Of Them Is Me." Here's a link to the New York Times obit.

He also made a couple of great records with his friends Wendy Waldman, Karla Bonoff and the late Kenny Edwards as Bryndle.
His 80s collaboration with Graham Gouldman (10cc/legendary songwriter) as Wax UK (here in The States) produced 3 synth-heavy albums, a bit dated sounding today but worth investigating if you enjoy mid-period Tears For Fears, early Mr. Mister or the like. I tend to think of a "guilty pleasure" single called "Weak In The Presence Of Beauty" by Floy Joy whenever I play them.
I'll close with a track from my personal favorite Andrew Gold treasure, a twisted and fun, psychedelic pop opus called "Greetings From Planet Love" that oddly fits the occasion. There's a false ending... so let it play out.
