I've been building a custom home music server for a little over a year now and my only regret is not starting the process sooner. The ability to access my music from anywhere makes me a very happy camper, especially now that tools are available to let me stream directly to my car. Usually in the car I'm listening to my channel (The Loft) on SiriusXM but occasionally I dial into the home server via my iPhone and a nifty app called iSub and set it on random. If this is something you are thinking about doing, I strongly suggest you take a look at Subsonic and Media Monkey. It is not very hard to do this, in fact with an Android phone it's a bit easier and cheaper. Tonight's drive home was one of those "random" nights and I thought I'd share a few of the gems that popped up.
